Couch Education: Omar

The film Omar was nominated for an Academy Award this year. It’s an amazing story that goes far beyond a good old fashioned love story. I watched it before I left for Israel and the West Bank/Palestine and didn’t understand a few things that I do now (and sometimes wish I didn’t). It is a very well written film that briefly casts a light on how heart breaking the conflict is for the people who survive in it. Even worse, it’s based on a true story.

I promised my family I’d re-watch it with them when I got back, but I haven’t been able to do it as of yet – it’s literally too real. I told a  Palestinian friend about the movie and he told me he cried when he watched it.
Please, if you need something to watch and get an education at the same time about real world situations, check out Omar. (They should pay me to write this, wow)
